Checkout Information
Books
Personal account information may be accessed by logging into the Destiny Online Library Catalog. Books are checked out for 10 school days, graphic novels are checked out for 5 school days, and technology items are checked out for 1-3 days and only after student submits a signed Acceptable User Agreement. Books may be renewed online one time if the book is not on hold by another patron. After the first renewal or if the book is past the due date, patrons need to visit the library to renew. Holds may be placed on books in the SV catalog; they may also be requested from another 6-12 Ankeny School.
Access to Online Library Catalog Information
The school library online catalog has been accessible on each school’s library webpage for well over a decade. Students learn each year how to access the library in-house and online materials through both direct and indirect instruction from the teacher librarians and staff. Students and parents are able to access the school library catalog on each school’s website by selecting the student’s school, hovering over the Library Media Center located on the top menu bar, and selecting the library catalog. Specific individual account information may be accessed by selecting LOGIN and then the blue SIGN IN WITH GOOGLE option. Students and staff will need to provide their Ankeny Google credentials. If a patron (staff or student) is already signed into Google Chrome, selecting this option will automatically sign the user into the personal online catalog account.
Textbooks
A limited number of hard copy textbooks are available for checkout. The length of checkout periods depend on supply and type of textbook. Textbooks for 8th grade science require teacher approval for checkout. Visit the library for details.
Overdue Notices & Fines
Fines are $.10 per day per item and are marked lost after 30 days overdue. Students will receive an email reminder that a book is coming due 1-3 days prior to the due date. After 30 school days (6 weeks) of being overdue, books are marked as lost and the student is responsible for the full replacement price of the book. If a book is returned after this time period, the student’s fee will be reduced to a 30-day late fee ($3.00).
Students should check their Gmail accounts for the following types of notices:
- Renewal Reminder: sent the 1-3 days prior to due date
- Overdue 1-4 Days: sent 1-4 days after due date
- Student Library Late Fees: sent weekly after 4 days overdue
- 14+ Day Overdue Notice: sent bi to the parent email on Infinite Campus
